Melanie holds her Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degree and is registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers.
Melanie believes the most important aspects of counselling is the relationship between the counsellor and client, and ensuring it is one with genuine respect, honesty, and confidentiality. She values being non-judgmental, empathetic, and treating all clients with unconditional positive regard.
Melanie bases her practice on the Person-Centred Approach and utilizes other therapies such as the Attachment theory, Family/Systematic Approach, Emotional-Focused Therapy, Transactional Analysis Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Mindfulness approach.
She enjoys working with children, youth, individuals, couples and families. Melanie believes she would b helpful in areas such as life transitions, relationships, parenting support, occupational issues, emotional/physical/spiritual well-being, self-esteem, anxiety/depression, self-harm, anger issues, grief and loss, and past issues.
Melanie is married with three children and enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, being outdoors with her family and their animals.
