Edwin Brobbel has a Master’s of Education in Counselling Psychology and is Canadian Certified Counsellor.  His counselling approach is based on a high respect for the client.  He views life and counselling as a journey for both counsellor and client.  Therapy is a team effort directed by the client’s needs.
Edwin’s approach is a mix of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and mindfulness.  He also makes use of Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Transactional Analysis (TA), and Existential Approaches.   Edwin is willing to include spiritual and transpersonal aspects into counselling when it matches the client.
Edwin’s areas of interest include:

  • depression/anxiety
  • life issues (when you feel that life itself is the problem)
  • life transitions (including career and life direction)
  • grief/loss
  • meaning/purpose
  • self-esteem/self-worth
  • loneliness
  • couples/relationships
  • addictions

Before pursuing counselling as a career, Edwin had a career in teaching and school counselling.  He was raised on a farm north of Fort Macleod and still spends many summer days on the farm.  He understands the stresses and unique challenges of a rural lifestyle. Having been a university student for over seven years and a teacher for five years, he can also relate to the pressures that both students and professionals face.
